Sattva Movement Yoga with Manu

"Sattva" is a Sankskrit word often translated as "purity." It is a quality that combines goodness, light, wisdom, harmony, bliss, and balance. Another translation of Sattva is "the impulse to evolve, to go forward, to progress". Sattva is said to be "the fruit of virtuous living". We cultivate it by living in tune with nature and employing skillful means for self-awakening.

The mind-body is a sacred garment for the indwelling spirit. In stress of daily living it can suffer a good deal of wear and tear. Yoga is designed to help you recover and restore the balance of health. Using the principles of flow, alignment, and breath; Manu weaves together an enriching experience of peace and wellness for you. Suitable for all levels.

Therapeutic Viniyoga with Marilyn

VINIYOGA refers to the "appropriate adaptation of yoga to meet individual needs." Students learn to adapt the postures to their individual needs, depending on age, condition, interests. Modifications accommodate tight hamstrings; sore backs, cranky knees, stiff necks, weak bones, and so on. By linking breath and movement, and alternating repetition and stay, students will break old patterns and establish more beneficial ways of moving, as well as increase strength, flexibility, and stability. Viniyoga embraces the full spectrum of yoga teachings, including seated breathing (pranayama), sound, relaxation, and meditation. "The Viniyoga tradition uniquely offers an articulated science from which a personal practice, the foundation for health, can grow."

Marilyn has a special interest in making yoga accessible to everyone. The Viniyoga 1 class she teaches at Leaping for Life is beginner- and body-friendly. It's ideal for those who have never done yoga, who have been inactive in recent years, or who simply want to reinitiate their yoga practice at a slower pace. Marilyn creates a safe, non-competitive environment where students feel encouraged and accepted.
